dye / perfume free soap is essential. something like Dove (or generic). same with lotions, avoid any lotion that has scents.
Eucerin is my favorite lotion ever. i use "Advanced Repair" and "Original Healing". the AR is softer and what i use on most of my body (arms, legs, chest, etc). the OH is thicker and what i use on my "problem areas" (the really dry parts) like my feet, hands, knees, etc.
put lotion on immediately after taking a shower. the primary job of lotions is to lock in existing moisture, they don't do a great job of adding it to already dry skin.
