It's finally time for me to try and put some thoughts into words! Spoilers for True Colors

Episode One was a great introduction to Alex, the supporting cast, and to Haven. Gabe in particular needed to shine in order to sell the impact of losing him, and I thought they managed that well through his interactions with Alex. I also really felt for Alex when she sadly sang that song after losing control of her emotions, it really solidified the fact that she wasn't sure of her place there yet.

Episode Two handled the mourning for Gabe well, again everyone had a little moment. My one complaint here was that a lot of it seemed like Alex reacting to the feelings of others rather than feeling anything herself. Still, she hadnt seen Gabe in years, maybe it makes sense that the people he'd built a life with would be harder hit.

Episode Three was the LARP, which from what I've read elsewhere seemed divisive. Lots of people thought it was cringy, but I loved it! One of the big themes of the game was loss and this dealt with that for Ethan. I loved the end where Alex got to see the fantasy world as Ethan did, and his breakdown after the siren hit me hard.

Episode Four was the party, and I romanced Steph. I enjoyed their relationship well enough. This ep dealt a lot with the conspiracy too, which I also thought the game handled well. It was a fairly realistic situation in a lot of ways, just a shady corporate coverup, but it managed a lot of intrigue along the way. I saw the Jed twist coming a mile away but it still impacted me when it happened.

Episode Five fleshed out Alex's backstory, which I appreciated. As for the council vote ending, I have some qualms. I lucked into the golden full support ending, which was satisfying, but I've since seen other variations and I think they would really ruin the climax the first time through. Why is taking Pike's fear good but taking Charlotte's anger ruins the ending? Still, the empath showdown with Jed was good and I liked being able to leave Haven to go adventuring with Steph.

Overall, True Colors was a solid story about loss and belonging. None of the choices really mattered, but at this point you kind of have to expect that from games like this. Far more important for me was that it had all the little LiS trademarks like sitting on a dock and just thinking about things for a minute. TC was a worthy LiS game
