Its actually hilarious how pointless the Canadian elections were, not the full Theresa May but pretty funny.

The issue is not the parliamentary system, its the electoral system. Ireland has effectively the same parliamentary system as Britain and Canada but uses the single transferable vote rather than first past the post and as a result has one of the most proportional democracies in the world that keeps the multi-party pluralism and local representation of the other systems while actually being democratic.

Also in the UK its the left that loses out not the right - after UKIP in 2015 (who did get one seat) the far right effectively no longer exists (Brexit Party turned out to be an absolute non-factor) and that means that the ~43% of right leaning people all vote for one party while the ~57% of left leaning people split the vote pointlessly. FPTP is a joke and needs to go.

Yes, what I mean is that the right falls in line behind the conservative party very well. For whatever reasons the left/center has not figured out the benefits of falling in line or just doesn't care.
