Youre not giving it fair credityou said yourself that it's crossing an incredibly low bar, there's not much to give it credit for beyond "it tries" it's simple fun but it doesn't have the depth and variety to keep the games difficult or thoroughly engaging: where are the varied skills with interesting applications? where are the thought-out encounter designs that require me to prioritize enemies in special ways? when is doing something besides hitting weaknesses (or spamming the best physical multi-hit) after buffing/debuffing ever not going to be the best strategy in every fight? it's better than the average jrpg for sure but i don't think it's the excellent nail-biting test of wits that people love to make it out to be ...
