I've paid for people who have had their card decline or something and if they look to be struggling. (Elderly, disabled, etc. ) I've done it three times in the past year or so and it's never been over 20 bucks or so.

I was at a drive thru once and the girl said that the driver in front of me paid for my order.

I went ahead and paid for the person behind me. Wonder how long, or even if, the chain kept going

I've NEVER been involved in one but they seem super fucking dumb. I get you're trying to be nice but all it does is force you to pay for an order you didn't order. Someone got yours? that was nice they covered the 10 bucks. The next person has a 30 dollar order though and you better keep it going! No. You shouldn't feel pressure to pay for theirs. Fuck that.
