When you jump from animation to live action there's just so much that doesn't come across the same. You just can't depict things the exact same way, even if you try it'll come across differently. CG can look pretty bad if its not done right. Is Luffy going to blow up like a balloon? Even something like just punching very fast can look dumb af in live action.

That's a good point, but I still think they can work around some of those details if they're creative enough, like how they made Scott Pilgrim vs. The World an extraordinary live-action adaptation by not taking itself too seriously while simultaneously adding lots of stylish details.

And I'm talking about a MUCH more complex adaptation there. Like Safer said with the RE movie, they have one very simple job by choosing the right cast and respecting the game canons and they can't even do that right.
