The issue is more keeping up "kayfabe" when they are about. No one really gives a shit if you know who they actually are, and I am pretty sure the girls and management are all fully aware people do actually know. They just don't want you breaking the illusion while it's happening. I've also no idea if this is a Yagoo thing or other CEO's/whatever in the organisation.

And then there are also others who don't want people breaking the illusion anywhere. In some communities talking about the vtubers' (past) identity is pretty much frowned upon even if the vtubers themselves or their companies aren't around.

Also I think it's not just a Yagoo/CEO decision thing considering how common "kayfabe" is in vtuber industry.

Well after the whole Aloe thing and with Hitomi? Chris? person, troubles happened as a result of people finding out about their previous life. Even though most of the new people are known, thanks to such a rule, we still don't know what Subaru, Kanata, or Suisei looks like. I think there are a few others that have never done any other public work and can't be easily found and probably shouldn't be found.

Ah yeah, Hitomi Chris. For her in particular, it's hard to say if she is retired due to identity issue, she is too much of a mystery considering she only has literally 1 stream and confirmed no longer streaming 3 weeks after her only stream. After that, everything about her is completely removed. Plus, she was from the very beginning of Hololive's era, debuting around the time the original talents and Gen 1 debuted.

Because of how early she was, I personally I think she's just meant to be some kind of a "test run" for something. Who knows what.
Especially with the fact that she only has 1 stream for 3 weeks straight.
