From what I heard, yeah. She wrote the epilogue before the first book was published and refused to edit it from how it was original for sentimental reasons.
That would make sense, yeah. Having reread all the books several times, the first few books have noticeably worse writing quality than the later books. The quality of writing steadily goes up until about book 5 when she more or less has her writing down.
