Looking globally: HIV: 36.3 million deaths since June 1981 (40.2 years) Covid: 4.3 million deaths since November 2019 (1.8 years) If I'm remembering properly how division works, I believe that works out to roughly 0.9 million deaths per year for HIV and 2.4 million for Covid. Man, if only I'd considered what I was saying before I said it. Then I could have avoided this embarrassing position of having readily available statistics and basic math prove me completely right.
