Why is running so bad for us when it is fundamental to our species? Is it just cause we were never designed to live this long?

Also, as much as I dislike running being able to run fast feels pretty great.

Yes, our life expectancy is much greater than it was in the past, significantly past our average years of reproduction.

How in fuck have you two made it to 2021 with these misconceptions about life expectancy intact

Life expectancy is not life span and modern practices have increased life expectancy by virtually eliminating many causes of childhood mortality, so life expectancy (which is an average) went from 30 or so to the high-70s/low-80s it is today thanks to the precipitous drop in young death. It's not like human beings normally die somewhere in their 30s and now we have more time thanks to good ol' science.

Our lifespan has not changed to anywhere near that degree, people in premodern times who survived childhood stood a very good chance to survive to be what we call senior citizens today.
