Three weeks late, but I'm here now! Sorry about the delay; I did listen to those three songs almost immediately, but I wanted to listen to them a second time on a different day and... well, here we are.

Gloria, Lonely Boy: I really like the opening on this one! It's got a very dark, ominous factory vibe to it which is a new type of ambiance to explore. I think this part of the song could hit really hard if I were in the right sort of headspace.

Once the lyrics come in, the song loses some of its edge. It feels like hearing someone else's voice pulls me out of the illusion a bit? Like I want to spend my time exploring this mysterious place, but it's not terribly mysterious if someone's also there and singing. That's not to say I dislike the song once he comes in--I do like it--but it gets away from the vibe I loved and never really comes back to it.

Love Love Love: Another one where I love the intro, though for opposite emotional reasons. I find the subdued opening to be oddly soothing and I really dig the first vocalist. I can't figure out how to word it, but the vocals are at this odd crossroads between Spoken Word and Distorted that I connect with.

And then the second vocals join in and we get away from what I loved. I still like it, it never does anything I dislike, it just moves away from what I loved. Pretty sure I'd rank it as the best of the three.

Hey Gagarin: I haven't figured out how I feel about this. This is clearly the most "too thumpy edm pulse" of the trio, but that's far too dismissive for a song that is certainly doing... something.

I don't know what it is, but it's definitely something.

Closest I can think of is that it feels like it's playing at the wrong speed? Like the song has multiple tempos and they're all actively wrong in some way, but only slightly?

So, I ran the song through Audiosurf 2, one of those 'creates stages based on your songs' type games, that turns songs into roller coasters with a few different game modes. I mostly run the generic Ninja mode--catch blocks, dodge spikes, get a bunch of bonus points if you can dodge all spikes. Basic stuff. And I'm not great at the game by any means, but I've got a few songs I've gotten the perfect evasion bonus on and I usually only hit a few spikes on most songs... you know, a low enough number that it feels like I could perfect clear them with enough practice or something.

I hit 28 spikes on "Hey Gagarin". Because it's always moving at the wrong speed. I keep crashing on things that should be easily dodged because the timing is off. And it's not a case of the changing tempo messing me up, I've tried a few other songs with varied tempos like "The Twyncyn / Trembling Willows". Gagarin is just off somehow.

And I haven't figured out exactly how it's off, or why, or how I feel about it. I guess I like it because I wouldn't bother with all these paragraphs if I didn't?

_n C_rcl_s: Glad you liked it. It's kinda static-y and I like static.

...yes, that's really all I have to say about that. Go static!
