So you'd only really need to sacrifice a few years worth of your payout while still getting 10k every year the rest of the time. If anything, the real cash sink would be that kids tend to dramatically up expenditures, so 10k per year to a single or childless couple will go a lot farther than 10k for a family with multiple kids.
