First off, I don't know who you are. Are you an alt? Suspended/warned/banned recently? It's weird talking to someone who knows me but I don't share the same pleasure.

And no, that's not deflecting. It's the literal definition of deflecting that I'm referring to.

You deflected the argument, turned it onto another course. That is literally what happened.

But, I'm sure your wikipedia article and it's 0 mention of the word deflect or any variation of it is more reliable than the dictionary most people use these days.

Nah I just recognize users known for shitposting.

Regarding your failure to understand synonymous terms, deflection literally is referring to a psychological defense mechanism of shifting blame away from yourself or your group, whereas I have no horse in this race and I'm offering criticism of the premise itself. Otherwise any time you bring up something else in a discussion would be called deflection.

The problem with getting upset about this is that it ignores the underlying problem (actual toxic masculinity). When someone calls you out on ignoring the root of the issue and you get upset that you got called out, calling it deflection shows how disingenuous you are when acting like you really care about the problem.

Usually the disingenuous actor's playbook goes like this:
Step 1: *accuses critics of deflecting*
Step 2: *doubles down*
Step 3: *ad homs*

You're on step 2 now.
