14: Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon



And here we have our 1st real appearance by the Blue-Eyes archetype (keyword: first - FORESHADOWING), quotation marks because lets be real, no deck is running Dragon Master Knight and if they are then theyre using a fusion substitute for BEUD. This is also our first Ritual monster, and most ritual monsters are pretty garbo unless theyre made for an archetype that uses them, like nekroz or cyber angels.

Usability: 10/10
Chaos MAX, however, is not one of those cards. For starters its got 4k attack which puts it on par with Obelistk the Tormentor, a friggin egyptian god. It deals DOUBLE piercing damage, which means if it destroys a defense monster by battle, it deals the difference in values twice instead of just the regular once for piercing damage. Since most monsters have lower defense than attack, if you can say book of moon your opponents monsters into defense position, you could be looking at up to 6000 life points in a single attack. If you get lucky enough to swing into a 0 def monster, thats game right there, a OHKO. However, the real meat of this card is the protection: cannot be destroyed or even targeted by card effects. So your only real way of getting rid of this card is some sort of non-target non-destroy effect like Drowning Mirror Force. Finally, the card used to summon it, Chaos Form, allows you to banish cards from your GY instead, so if you dont have any Blue Eyes in your hand or on field, as a last resort you can permanently get rid of one to bring out this beast.

Design: 7/10
Its a big stronk dragon. I like how its a lot bigger than regular Blue Eyes, and I like the crystal protrusions on it, but I dont like what looks like lights on the wings. Gives it a bit too much of a mechanical look.
