| Snake5555555555 07/25/21 7:37:51 PM #9: | 9.5/10 As Gothic as some of the best and most iconic stories by Henry James and Shirley Jackson. It uses its anthology format to great effect, as the player embodies each tragedy after tragedy in more depressive ways than the last, but also elements of black humor keep the player from guessing exactly where each story is going to lead, much like a series like Tales from the Crypt (and appropriately, a section is based exactly on the comics so no surprise there). It's horror not in the traditional sense, but horror repackaged to show the curse and monolithic inescapability of family lineage, one's own personal demons, and perfectly represents the hopelessness one can feel trapped in a hell of their own making. It's one of the most deeply affecting and emotionally valuable stories in all of gaming. --- I've decided to put my fears behind me.
