Cinematography and music was quite good, CGI has mostly held up, but I think the movies really, really fucked with many of the characters and made changes that did not jive with the themes. It's hard to look past an adaptation that just outright butchers all your favorite characters, especially when LotR has particular significance for my family; my grandfather taught classes on it, he and my mom went together to buy The Silmarillion together when it came out, my oldest memory is of me quoting The Two Towers and making my mom laugh, etc, etc... As of today my favorite adaptation of the LotR is the BBC audio drama (from what I understand the kindle version is missing parts? Lame...), the one where Ian Holm played Frodo and Robert Stephens played Aragorn (bro had the voice of a god, he died too young). --- Hi ... Copied to Clipboard! |
