Rewatching the show actually made me think on several occasions that the show writers failed to understand the complexity of his character. I'd have to research on the exact details, but a lot of time they made Melisandre take decisions he took, where she told him to do something instead of himself insisting on it. IIRC the burning of Selyse's brother (father in books) was also for his misbeliefs and not for the treason and that deranges Stannis' views and principles. Stannis is more desperate for Melisandre's help in the book rather than actually caring too much for her religion. Among other things, it hurts the relationship between him and Davos. --- Guinness Book of World Records is the name of the diary that belongs to azuarc, the winner of the Game of the Decade II guru contest. ...
