I really like Grimwood's role as a concept. I don't feel the execution is quite there all the time, but he's still pretty good overall. Way better than like Weissman or Campanella or something, though Campanella can admittedly be pretty fun from a purely entertainment standpoint.
Also I'm pretty sure Cold Steel 3/4 does actually directly spoil Grimwood's involvement. I guess not by his actual name but by comments about "that lawyer" or something saying he was involved in this incident. That's also why there was just a "random" entrance to the Geofront inside his old office for whichever game that was relevant in.
Dieter is also probably my favorite villain in the series, though I don't know that I can totally explain why. A good villain is the tragic hero of their own story, or something. (Not that I literally believe this statement in all cases, but I do think that's sort of why I like Dieter specifically) ---
