Dancer is super mega easy to play. It look intimidating looking at the list of abilities, but it honestly might be the biggest disparity between on paper description and execution imaginable.

You have a 2 ability single target GCD combo and a 2 ability AOE GCD combo with damage values for use in any situation with more than 1 enemy. Other than that......it's literally just keeping up your dances (your single target attacks become the dance buttons when you start dancing, you don't bind those seperately) . All the other GCD's and offensive oGCDs are random procs and you use them as they come up. Procs don't interrupt combos and don't need to BE comboed, you can straight up zero thought that stuff.

The only part of dance that requires any thought is when to use your oGCD buffs on 2 minute cooldown.

TECHNICALLY you also get to learn how many boss mechanics you get to be safe in for longer than other characters because of your dash, lol.

Just a couple of things I'd add to that that aren't critical for normal content but are good to get into the habit of if you decided to go into raiding on DNC.

Firstly, don't be fooled by the 60 second buff timer on Standard Step into thinking you only need to use it that often to keep it applied. Standard Finish has an absurdly high potency and you should be using it whenever it's off cd. It also has insane range for an aoe skill that centers on the player. Likewise, you should probably also be using Flourish whenever it's up, as since it's on a 1 minute cd, it still lines up with the 2 minute cooldowns of your Technical Step and Devilment buff windows.

Speaking of buff windows, you'll want to save up your fan dances so that you can use all four during it (obviously don't let yourself overcap on fans). By the same note, try and manage your Esprit gauge so that it hits 100 during your buff window so that you can use Saber Dance twice during it.

Improvisation is very situational, you'll probably only use it during downtime or if your healers really need the help to avoid wiping.

As for dance partners, if you're in a group you know, use it on whoever you know does the highest dps. For pugs, order of priority generally goes SAM/BLM > DRG/MNK/NIN > SMN > RDM > MCH > BRD > DNC, but this is only as reliable as a player's ability to stay alive. Any live player is better than a dead one.
