I've actually watched Synecdoche, New York before, so this Kaufman approach felt familiar. It was a satisfying watch and kept me guessing at the true nature of the characters throughout the movie, with some tense moments. It was not the easiest watch but it could keep me engaged most of the time. I love the mystery and the descent into madness and the musical references. I especially enjoy trying to catch every little hint that there's something off and try to piece together what is actually happening. It's also great how the dialogues in themselves wouldn't be crazy weird but the delivery and context just make them very chilling. Though, as expected, the ending was left ambiguous and I had to consult TV Tropes to read what it was all about. Also, the random trivia reminded me of something the Zero Escape series would do.
