Whenever I think about the transporters in Star Trek, I cant help but think about all the people that willingly got on the pads and were killed in every episode. How did no one ever ask the question, heck even a species new to the technology never pondered it killing them. It all seems so fucked up. Worst part, its likely no character in universe will ever address the question.

Its really keeps me up at night if I start thinking about it. Sure its fictional, but everyone gleefully gets teleported. It even got me thinking how much of the matter ends up used in the food replicators.
