nash and rose are two of the least deserving mvps in history so it makes sense

i think the most deserving MVPs actually made the finals the same season they were voted MVP - and that's actually a majority of them, at least that i can think of in recent memory

(edit) thinking about it, all the most recent MVPs have failed to make the finals. i guess i'm thinking of like curry, duncan, shaq, kobe, lebron, and jordan. they tended to accrue MVPs during their teams' best years.

"best player on the best team" players like rose/giannis/harden obviously are going to win these awards less, and "best player on an ok team" guys like westbrook/jokic are gonna have an almost impossible time making it to the finals

yet all azuarc of all sorts are more or less capricious and unreliable - they live in the varying outer weather, and they inhale its fickleness
