He said absolutely nothing btw, someone pulled out his donations and Twitter went wild at "him donating to Repubs", assuming he was anti-LGBT solely based off of that like there totally isn't trans repubs or anything.

Fuck'em.

Funds that came directly from his success as an indie developer, mind you.

And then there's being a Trump supporter, the guy who banned transgender soldiers and whose cabinet has set in motion "religious freedom" bills that amount to being allowed to discriminate against people for their sexuality or gender identity.

Oh yeah, the Republicans love trans women like Caitlyn Jenner - the woman who wants to fist the legal system so that trans youth will have an even tougher time seeking resources to transition. There are trans republicans, sure - the trans community isn't a monolith. But let's be real, the people Cawthorne is directly supporting with the money from his games are free and willing participants in a party who are doing everything they can to strip trans protections and make it harder for them to get support. Most trans people don't engage with people like Caitlyn Jenner in good faith, because she makes it harder to be a trans person with the people and policies she supports.

But rather than pay a bunch of lip service to a random deflection, let's look at who he's actually donating to - thousands of dollars going to the lowest shitstains on Trump's ladder. $5,000 to the man who shut down the government multiple times because he refused to pass any legislation that didn't allocate billions of dollars for Trump's wall. Nearly a thousand dollars who started a bunch of qanon-level dogshit about an FBI plot against Donald Trump, who proceeded to waste taxpayer money chasing that boogeyman as a way of deflecting blame from Trump.

Those payments exist, and people are right to find his support of these figures upsetting as those figures relate to their lives. The creator of their favorite video game series supported a regime that made it harder to be a minority in America, donating to several key figures who ran massive efforts to further the petty delusions and the blatant corruption of the Republican party.

If you want to adopt FNAF as some Republican martyr, some unfairly criticized piece of media that the Regressive Left wants to silence for no other reason than to destroy an innocent man's life, that's your business. But the reason this is such a big deal to his fans is because the people he supports politically clashes with the good that his fanbase tried to put out into the world.

Cool, you don't like the touhou dev - you're entitled to dislike him and his games for personal or political reasons, the same way people are free to dislike Scott Cawthorne for personal or political reasons. All that your touhou point says is that you're okay with doing it in the other direction, but not when a Trump supporting member of the religious right is taken to task for his own political engagement.

So here's an idea. Accept that people find Scott's political engagement just as distasteful and unworthy of support as you seem to think the touhou dev's political engagement is. Accept that people are just as entitled to act against what he stands for as you are to act out against the supposed far left bias of the touhou dev. Because you're free to criticize that dev and disengage from his material, the same way that people are free to criticize and disengage from Scott Cawthorne.
