The only way to BECOME a variant is to make a choice that goes against where the sacred timeline wants to go. That causes a branch. Those branches are all nuked almost immediately. You think the snap was bad? These guys kill EVERYONE from EVERY PLANET each time a branch is made. Now, can you make the correct choices for the sacred timeline and still create a branch? Yup.
