AAI1-1: Turnabout Visitor

There's a note left by the victim under Portsman's door ['sorry I missed you, brought you some evidence' kinda thing], and the basketball hoop looks like it's been moved. The door to Mr Portsman's office is locked tight. Maggey admits she didn't actually lock it that night, so why is it locked now?

You take a look at Edgeworth's office door knob, and it's been wiped clean of prints. Hmmm...

We go back into Edgeworth's office and point to Mr Portsman being the culprit. He balks at this, insisting he never used the master key - but with Maggey, he did not personally have to. We point to the moved Basketball Hoop as evidence that the hoop may have been relocated to let Portsman into Edgeworth's office instead.

Portsman insists he was in his office the entire time, we present the Victim's Note, saying he missed Mr Portsman during his visit. This is dismissed as the two men just missing each other, and that Mr Portsman didn't notice the note upon entering his office. Mr Portsman makes an alibi for himself during the time the master key was missing, and Gumshoe is able to corroborate his story based on testimony from the officers down in Criminal Affairs.

Perhaps there was another person, other than the victim and his killer, who had entered Edgeworth's office? Upon pressing Mr Portsman, he reveals that Det. Buddy Faith brought 2 pieces of evidence related to an old case. However, according to the Victim's Note slid under Portsman's actual office door, Buddy Faith brought 3 pieces of evidence. We investigate on Portsman's person and find he was hiding a blood-stained VHS tape.

Portsman had tricked Maggey into letting him into Edgeworth's office. Portsman then poked around the secret safe and the files, which he put back incorrectly. Det. Faith comes along, leaves the note regarding the evidence, then is alarmed at noises coming from Edgeworth's office - someone who should be currently out of office. He investigates and Portsman snatches his gun, killing him to eliminate Faith as a witness. Portsman wrote Gumshoe's name in blood to try and pin it on him. Portsman then requested Maggey lock up, but she pretended to do so using her house key [the master key was missing at this time]. Portsman spends time in Criminal Affairs building his alibi.

Another thief entered the now-unlocked office of Edgeworth, ignored the body, stole the file they needed, and was about to leave when Edgeworth entered. There were some threats, a shot was fired, and the thief made off with the file, leaving it in the hallway after taking what he needed.

Maggey thanks Edgeworth, and Gumshoe talks about how Portsman is thought of as being generally corrupt. We wonder about the stolen file we found in the hallway. Apparently, the famous thief Yatagarasu left his calling card - this thief prefers to steal information on corrupt companies, and gives the info to the press to report on. This jogs Miles's memory about something that happened two days ago.

What happened? We'll find out next time! See you then.
