I thought the speed at which popular discourse changed was a symptom of Trump flooding the news cycle with his stupidity, but it seems as though the world's attention span is forever fucked. Either that or all the people just hearing about it for the first time educated themselves and learned that the whole situation is probably the biggest clusterfuck in world politics right now, with no easy solution.
