The original problem was that my Windows wouldn't update from the no longer supported version 1909 to the current version 20H2. It would keep bugging me for the update and even restart by itself when I'm in the middle of doing something to try and install the update, but it would always still be on 1909 after the restart as if the update never happened. Plus, now that 1909 is no longer supported, my laptop also has critical security risks.

I've tried updating different ways, I've tried custom installations of Windows, I've tried fresh-starting Windows, I've tried everything they suggested. But at some point during the attempts, another problem arose and now sometimes my computer won't even boot up without hitting some sort of weird flashing boot manager screen. A second problem arose and I still haven't even come close to fixing the first one. So today, after over three days of failures and the Windows support agents finally resorting to "maybe try opening up the laptop, taking out the RAM and putting it back in, then try updating again" as the last wild idea for a potential solution, I finally decided to just give up and start looking into buying a new laptop.

Hopefully I'll be able to do so by the end of the week, but no guarantees.
