thanks everyone. i went soldier so i guess i have to use my squad to take down shields.

but since im soldier, what are the advantages of the different weapons??

in ME1 you're a tank. soak up the damage and use weapon mods to add ammo effects to your kit. in ME2 and 3 you're less of a tank but you get powers that let you handle shields and armor a bit easier.
