Virtual Console on both the Wii & Wii U were libraries that Switch Online couldn't possibly dream of attaining and very well worth paying for if I could (for the record, Wii VC set the SNES pricing at $8, which Wii U VC still sells them at now).I wish they did this too, but they realised they could get away with selling 20-30 year old games individually for more money and they're not looking back! That said, the glacial pace of their online library is stunning to me. Much like the Switch interface still only having basic black/white themes and their lack of Netflix etc, I don't understand the rationale there. --- Slowly becoming a Final Fantasy aficionado.
