| Toxtricity 05/10/21 3:09:52 PM #70: | the earliest account i had has join date listed as may 2 2007. but i definitely lurked or used friends' accounts for a long time without an account before that, certainly not earlier than 2006 though. the first video i remember watching was an upload of white & nerdy by weird al, which came out in 2006. was shown it by someone else during high school, between or after classes in the band/choir/orchestra room. on a bulky computer in there still with a crt monitor (a computer with probably originally win95-98 level of oldness) and very poor connection that could barely handle what was being played definitely a pretty vivid memory of a very "new" feeling form of online experience, but i had no clue it'd eventually blossom into the standard way for so many people to listen to music, or watch so many things. honestly the concept of one site being the gold standard far above everything else, for anything, was pretty foreign to me at that time, i still didn't use google as my primary search engine yet. had no clue what youtube was about to become --- time ...
