I meant the idea of having a skip year and then continuing the pattern from there. I guess the only issue is that the other nations probably have deals with companies that rely on the Olympics taking place at the stated time.

That's why I said it's a prestige rather than a money-maker. Despite the fact that it and FIFA usually lose money for host nations, these things have no trouble finding host cities since countries line up and compete for the privilege. This is especially true in the case of developing/undeveloped nations trying to establish themselves on the world stage (or less popular cities)

Plus there might not be the same international interest if it was always just hosted in Greece, and the fixed location might eventually not want to host it at all.
