Well yeah, but both the games and anime have shown the Pokemon still have some autonomy, since they can choose to disobey commands. I think the general idea is supposed to be that a Pokemon will only allow itself to be captured if it respects/trusts the trainer (something they apparently determine based on how badly the trainer kicks their ass in battle). And once the Pokemon has accepted the trainer, that trust and respect means it wants to follow their commands in battle. Because these creatures, while very intelligent, are also bloodthirsty animals who only exist for the thrill of battle. Poke Balls probably also have some mind control element that the government doesn't want you to know about. --- Change is weird. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
