just gave me a flashback to when I was like 19 and had $42 in my account

bought something for $43 and instead of declining it put me negative $1 then charged me a $30 overdraft fee so I was negative $31

oh then Netflix and like four other pending charges came in each being approved for some fucking reason and each accruing another $30 charge

it was my own mistake but holy fuck just decline it, dont fuck my finances over even further

Yeah, I hated that kind of shit. You go to sleep thinking you have like $5 left and you wake up like $30 or more in the whole depending on how many automatic charges happen.

And the way it USED to work was that even on your pay days:
  • Current balance: $10
  • New direct deposit: $1000
  • Automatic charges: $15, $20, $12, $25

Banks USED to charge you for those automatic charges before they counted your paycheck. So you'd get 4 overdraft fees taken out and THEN your paycheck deposited. The Obama administration put in a law to stop that.
