And the way it USED to work was that even on your pay days: Current balance: $10 New direct deposit: $1000 Automatic charges: $15, $20, $12, $25 Banks USED to charge you for those automatic charges before they counted your paycheck. So you'd get 4 overdraft fees taken out and THEN your paycheck deposited.
