I just watched it about a week ago and came away rether unimpressed after the ridiculous amount of praise it seems to get. I feel like such an odd man out about it. I literally loved everything about it. I'm someone who doesn't usually re-watch movies, especially not right after first viewing, but I re-watched this one last night again I loved it so much. The callbacks to all of the previous Godzilla films are put in with subtlety and care. The musical score is absolutely FLAWLESS. The way it handles its criticism of government bureaucracy without becoming too heavy handed against Japan or even the US. The way it makes Godzilla into something unsettling to downright horrifying. It's not perfect by any means and I can see someone disliking it though.
