140. Pluto (Mega Man V)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzHymbsvP3k

Another Mega Man V track that is alright but a little on the forgettable side. I couldn't really tell you why it doesn't stand out for me as much as the others, it just doesn't. I don't think the percussion gives it a very good feeling of 'momentum' (put your snares on the 2 and the 4, kids), the bassline is a little on the passive side, and the melody hook doesn't have that spark of brilliance to it. But uh, other than that, it's fine!

139. Hornet Man (Mega Man 9)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hqAun99_ug

Literally both the time I tried to type this on the list and the time I tried to type it in the Youtube search bar I typoed it as "Horney Man" and I don't know why I keep doing that. Anyway, this is a track I WANT to like, but I'm held back by MM9's 'nasally patch set' issue for the most part - it just kind of instills a very vague dislike of this track that I can't really logically explain. If you think I have this track like 70 places too low that's perfectly fine with me but it isn't clicking for me.

138. Time Man (Mega Man: Powered Up)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjplDFarXWg

This track is fine! This is the point at the list where I start to feel kind of bad about eliminating anything so that's probably how you should take my opinions from this point forward. It's fine, but it won't get stuck in my memory banks any time soon. I like the little rim clicks used as the sound of a tickling clock - I think that's clever and it gives this song character as well as a nice little rhythmic hook. But it just doesn't have that really memorable melody to hold onto and I value that over production value. Powered Up is the first game eliminated from this list, but it didn't have much of a chance since it only had three new tracks and none of them were a cool Wily theme unlike the GB games.

137. Saturn (Mega Man V)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrBuG1Py5GY

Yeah it's another one of these MMV songs with repetitive ostinatos. I never explained what that word means. It's just a continually repeated musical phrase. Anyway, it has those. In Gustav Holst's Planets Suite, Saturn, the Bringer of Old Age, is a slow, pensive piece that sort of has the weight of a stomping elephant behind it - this is a very different take! It's alright. I think the percussion could drive the rhythm a little more, it's a little washed out.

136. Enker (Mega Man 10)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6TE-qkgMSA

Okay, I realized as I was doing this writeup that I sort of lied when I said I wouldn't do remixes, arrangements, or other derivitives of other stage themes already on the list - because this theme, and I think only this theme, breaks that rule. It's pretty far adrift of Dr. Wily Revenge's Wily stage theme, though, so I'm not gonna sweat it too much - spirit of the rule, not the letter, and all that. All in service of ranking a theme that I don't care for too much - this goes for an arrangement style that I don't particularly care for, which is to play the one melodic hook you've got, then panic and just do a noodly solo to fill the rest of the space because you ran out of material. That said, it's saved by that nice, crunchy bass. Mmmm. By the way, Enker somehow has two different themes and neither are from the game he originally appeared in, which is weird. Enker somehow appears in four different Mega Man games????

135. Fake Man (Mega Man 9)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2QOJDWErPc

Don't remember Fake Man? He's the police robot you fight at the end of the special stage in MM9. This theme is pleasant and leaves no real lasting impression on me whatsoever. It's fine! It's totally ok.

134. Tengu Man (PS1) (Mega Man 8)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Oo1H3EEIEE

I don't think there's a single track in the franchise that loses its favor with me quicker. The first 12 seconds are really good! Really iconic melody hook, fun drums. Then it almost immediately loses all of its momentum with a section I really hate! Ugh, those cliche four-on-the-floor drums really stand out and the melody kinda wanders. Real mixed bag here - in totality I still like it but it could've been higher.

(I really like the Youtube code for this one.)

133. Bounce Man (Mega Man 11)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGJ2XSgZ3Fo

No, see, I do actually like this one, because MM11's 'sound' actually works for this track - this one's got character that the other songs don't, it actually fits! Even when it goes back to that happy-hardcore style that I find kinda miserable it WORKS for this track. Fun sound design all around - there's a lot of love put into this one and I think the Marika Suzuki did a good job on it. It's just REALLY not my vibe, though - that's really all I can say. This list is competitive now ok? "Then why are the Mega Man II tracks all still on this list" shut up

132. Skull Man (Mega Man 4)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-z1HLxLJto

Ohhh, shit, what's this? Is it a SPICY TAKE? Skull Man is overrated! It's predictable and trite and lacks good accompaniment! A memorable melody hook, yes, but that's all it is! Now with every entry on this list, you have to be reminded that I like it more than this beloved MM4 theme! Hahahaha, yes, feed me your hate, fools, it only makes me stronger!

131. Clash Man (Mega Man II)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fe9UnbgnxPE

No, that's not a typo. His name is Clash Man in MMII. Get it right. Yeah, I like this track more than Skull Man and there's NOTHING you can do about it, you just have to sit there and accept that my musical opinions are too strong for you.
