That's fair, it's hard to say how voters will end up believing. I just think the big takeaway from all this should be that voters don't actually care about bipartisanship as much as whether things feel bipartisan. A lot of Democrats seem to be expect that if they don't work with the GOP (which won't happen) then they'll end up facing a massive electoral backlash like in 2010, but that's not inevitable as long as they focus on less polarizing issues.

(OK, they'll still probably lose both houses of Congress in 2022 no matter what they do, but that's just because the system favors the GOP.)
