D:OS2 was fun, but it was too easy to walk into situations like this:
you're walking on the road
a bunch of enemies teleport in and ambush you
every enemy (who has high ground) goes before you
Your dudes, who are clustered together, get hit with multiple AoE attacks
You either fight a literal uphill battle or reload
I think I save scummed and reloaded about 200 times when I played. You can mitigate some of the annoyances by separating your units as you walk around, but having to do that all over, until you know where the ambushes are, is pretty fatiguing. If you can get around that downside, though, there's lots of ways to tackle situations and kill enemies.
