Eh, not sure how close the anime is to the manga, although I don't remember anybody being super-deep in the manga and a bunch of characters had recurring gags.

Comparing it to one punch man does one punch man a disservice because those characters actually do have some depth. They consist of at least a little bit more than 1 gag repeated endlessly, even if they do have gags they repeat, like everything dying in one punch. I'm not looking for crazy depth but at least come up with some new jokes here and there.

idk, some of characters are pretty one-note and, more importantly, the whole gimmick is one-note which is where the comparison is really being drawn. Most arcs are just build-up to Saitama showing up and finishing off the enemy who everybody jobbed to with... One Punch! >_>

Again, there are plenty using this gimmick or variants thereof, like that one crappy isekai I was reading (and talking about) a while back where the scanlators said "Fuck it, we're done!" at the end of the last chapter. (And, to a lesser extent, Hero? follows that format, although he has the secondary gimmick of generally trying to hide his power so he doesn't just one-shot every villain despite being able to.)
