As soon as I saw him on an avant garde album, I kinda suspected you were the most likely to have mentioned him---followed by rwlh. (After listening to a track, I vaguely suspected Lasa as a possible third choice--not one of the usual suspects, but he did lead me to some of Frank Zappa's more experimental tracks back in the day, so I don't think Steve Reich is that far removed from his interests. Though I'm fairly certain he hasn't specifically mentioned any artists or songs this topic.)
