I know it is subjective, but it is crystal clear to me that it has the best collection of maps and mini-games of all types. It has its own special story mode that incorporates the great duel mode. In duel mode, you face off against one opponent, and the goal is to get their HP down to 0 by going around the map strategically to attack them using common Mario enemies called partners. The mode has its own special mini-games too. MP3 also took the lackluster item system from the second game and expanded on it in a way to make its inclusion meaningful.
