Simply because he wouldnt want to let it go to trial doesnt mean he can absolutely stop it. I doubt he has the money to actually pay them what theyd want regardless. He probably has personal injury insurance policies with limits in the millions of dollars. They'll be negotiating with an attorney paid for by the insurer using insurance funds.
