not entirely the same but this reminds me of when I had a nighttime job in the early 2000s, and was sleeping during the day. My sister was at my computer just outside my room and around the corner. She suddenly yells my name and wakes me up. I get up and she couldn't find her way out of the tiny courtyard at the beginning of Morrowind. Its just 2 doors and a barrel with a magic ring in it. You are supposed to walk in from one door, pick up the ring then exit in the other door. She somehow kept getting turned around and going back to the way she came from. I was pretty annoyed to get woken up for that
