Next time, call the retention department and ask if they have any discounts or loyalty promo. Mention with covid going on, it's tough to afford these bills and ask if there's anything they can do to help. Mention you don't wanna deal with the trouble of going to another ISP. Be nice. Being insanely nice will get you far. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten huge discounts from ISP customer services just by being nice.
1) i have called in the past and nicely asked if theres any promos i could be put on. i never threatened to cancel though. and they would never do anything with me

2) its my mistake. the dude i was talking to...you could tell he was about to fall asleep or something. i didnt have confidence in him. should have hung up.
