ZTD is quite possibly my favorite game in the series, which I know is an... uncommon opinion. 999 is probably objectively the most solid but injecting the paranormal late into an otherwise *not* paranormal story is one of my biggest pet peeves so I was upset with that game for a very long time even if it was done quite well. VLR has that stuff right out of the gate but I feel like a lot of that game's lasting impact is just empty hype that ZTD was expected to cash in on. While meeting those expectations was impossible, I think it managed to be a lot of fun with some of the most memorable bits in the series. Oh and if we're throwing out adventure game recommendations I'll 100% lend my voice to those calling for Ghost Trick.
