179: AGATA - THE CABLE HAS NO NAME:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hn-YHxSCbYs

Nominator: rwlh (8/15)

Initial Score: 81.87 [#39]
Revised Score: 81.17 [#111]
Final Score: 72.77 [#179]

(First Thoughts: You say you have no idea what I like, but then you are one of the only people to give me this type of song, so I think you know a bit more than youre letting on. </.<)

A very unique, beep-y and buzzy track. You know I do love me some buzzing and beeping oddness, so a track like this is always welcome. Unfortunately, I dont have any real emotional attachment to the song or anything... its just like wow, this is weird and I like weird, pew-pew-pew buzzzzzzz which is more of a low 80s kinda thing than a top tier one.

[Final Thoughts: Its like they said hey, you know that Tool song (-) Ions? Lets do that, but also add some sci-fi lasers! Pew pew pew!.

Which is definitely the type of thing I like hearing, but I feel Im not quite in the mood for it tonight... feels more like a 70 point song than an 80 point one.]

178: STURGILL SIMPSON - PANBOWL (PAN BOWL?):

https://open.spotify.com/track/67Nplzu0xrOz1BD56gx8ho

Nominator: Xeybozan (1/20)
Source: Metamodern Sounds in Country Music (1/10)

Initial Score: 63.07 [#192]
Revised Score: 83.51 [#98]
Final Score: 72.87 [#178]

(First Thoughts: Just a nice classic country song. Nothing wrong with that.)

Half the things online put a space in Pan Bowl and the other half have it as one word and I really dont know which one is correct.

From the two Sturgill Simpson albums Ive heard, this is definitely the most traditional and straightforward country song hes made. Just a very direct wish to return to the days of youth, before everything sucked.

Its a very relatable song and a definite high point of the album.

[Final Thoughts: Nothing to add here.]

Arguably the most important album for me to have listened to, so thats nice. I also think you may have been the only person in all three years to nominate a male Country artist? I havent gone through the old topics lately, but this feels like a style of songs that either has had absolutely no representation or, at least, very little. So... not really one of my favorites, but something I think I and the topic needed.

177: MAMOMO - (First Fight) [mamomo #3]:

https://s-mamomo.bandcamp.com/track/--47

Nominator: @FL81 (12/20)
Source: mamomo album (10/13)

Initial Score: 74.26 [#68]
Revised Score: 82.25 [#105]
Final Score: 73.25 [#177]

(First Thoughts: The type of very dramatic battle theme that I actually like.)

Another song that reminds me of Undertale. Its both a dramatic battle theme, but also a very hopeful song, so it feels like itd be appropriate for an Undertale type game.

...short write-up again, forgive me, but dramatic battle theme that I like really sums up the song enough as it is.

[Final Thoughts: Good fight theme.]
