4. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
44 points

Kimetsu no Yaiba's explosive popularity is unprecedented. Boosted by its highly-acclaimed anime, the manga's backlog is filling up best-selling manga lists in Japan, selling millions and millions of copies. The hype "train" isn't likely to be stopping soon, as its recent movie broke Japan's box office records.
It's about Tanjiro Kamado, a teenager who had to take up the sword after a bunch of demons attacked his family. He then looks for a way to free his sister, Nezuko, from being possessed by a demon, with his comrades Zenitsu, Inosuke, and a bunch of other swordsmen.

3. Haikyuu
49 points

This volley ball manga was the latest WSJ sports manga that hit it big. The last volume was released just a few weeks ago, with epilogue chapters that tell of the character's lives after the series. I haven't actually read it since I'm not big on sports but since its chapters are now being released for free weekly on the MangaPlus app, I just might give it a spin.

2. My Hero Academia
53 points

One of the most well-known new shonen series of the last 10 years, it tells the story of a bunch of teenagers studying how to be a superhero, with consistently great art. It is also very accessible, being on Netflix and all. MHA's popularity led to many fan content, including fan art, comics, and even those rap battles on YouTube.

1. One Piece
63 points

One Piece is perhaps the quintessential shonen series. It's got adventure, fights, crazy powers, a colorful cast of characters, and hot-blooded emotions. It is currently the longest-running manga on WSJ and just about to hit the 1000th chapter on the next issue early next year! Wow!
With author Eichiro Oda's vague statements that the series is about halfway done, seems like we can still expect more seafaring adventures of Luffy and co. for years to come.
