16. Mashle
2 points

This action-gag series earned 1 point each for its magic and its muscle! I just marathoned it today and wow the Harry Potter references are so blatant...I love it. Mash' deadpan expression is funny, but it might hold him back from more emotional (and thus, memorable) moments. It seems to be doing really well for its own though, sales-wise! It might just become a WSJ pillar in a couple years.

15. Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin (tie)
3 points

Beelzebub's Ryuhei Tamura returns with a new buddy comedy series featuring a shark-like and a literally-dolphin-headed cop duo. I'm not actually following this series, but from a few chapters that I peeked at, it seems to vary between wild comedy hijinks and serious underwater cult/cartel mystery series. Time will tell if it'll swing further one way.

15. Mission: Yozakura Family (tie)
3 points

This manga about a young man betrothed to the heiress of an assassin family started life as a comedy-action series with heavy emphasis on episodic comedy, frequently featuring one of the many colorful members of the eponymous family. Recently it showed more of its serious, action-packed side, and earned better ratings. It seems to be geared up for a long arc full of action, so it's not a bad time to start reading it!
