@Mead you cant just grow animal tissue in vats like mold grows on agar. It needs a solution to transport nutrients and absorb waste hince the need for serum.

As far as made up content I think if a person will eat casa marzu (living maggot cheese) I dont think there would be much fight. As far as designer organisms people have grown hair from cactus, insulin from yeast, silk from pig milk. Saying a tumor is to far is just ignorance of what things people will do to indulge themselves.
