Not the same. The whole point of using those is because there is no single best rapper because it encompasses so many things that help and hurt rappers.

And actual skill has never been the deciding factor in ranking people. Rakim was a much more skillful rapper than Tupac and the vast majority of the culture places Pac on top. If actual rapping ability were giving as much respect in these "best" rapper talks, Kool G Rap would be talked about way more than he is now.

Yes of course it would be hard to vs rappers because of the things you've just mentioned personal preference how they rap subject matter etc

But to me the bar is set much lower than before and its much easier to pit rappers against each other. Drake is no way better than J Cole on the sole reason hes more popular and my original point is if thats the only reason people consider him better then its not the same art form it was before

During the Nas vs Jay Z beef there was so many things to talk about what what made which rapper better. No one was talking about Jay Z sold more records and if they did they would get shut down
