Thanks for confirming I shouldn't be there! Can you realistically beat the game after just doing one tablet? Lol.

Fork Tower is more simple than I expected, two pretty short runs up through some simple floors. Knowing to use only magic on the west side helps a lot, and on the east magic options are greyed out entirely. Bartz and Faris face a Minotaur at the top, which I expect to be easy given their strong weapons and Faris's Chemist item boost for healing. Not to be however, as Minotaur absorbs Excalibur's damage. So much for being a legendary weapon! Faris can't hold it down alone and Bartz is utterly useless without his weapons, so we lose and have to try again.

Second attempt I switch out Bartz's weapons and the battle goes off without a hitch. Minotaur amusingly attempts to cast Holy but isn't allowed. I wonder why a magic spell is kept in a non-magic tower come to think of it. Anyway, Lenna and Krile face their own boss by the name of Omniscient. We do OK but his attacks seem to get stronger and stronger, and Krile dies shortly before the end. I was counting his damage since Libraing him and knew there was only one hit left, so I decided to Firaga him with Lenna instead of reviving Krile. Big mistake! This guy actually knows how to use his magic (duh!), and Flares Lenna to death with his dying breath. Oops! How on earth does anyone do the Four Job Fiesta here with no proper mage classes?

Third time's the charm, no messing around this time. We get Holy and Flare, and the tower disappears entirely, revealing our old underwater base. Cid is caught rolling around in some gears casually as you like, and apparently that helped spur an idea in him to give our airship submarine capabilities. Krile has a nice subdued little scene with Mid, where she seems to see some of herself in his relationship with his grandfather, and we have the submarine again! Yay!

It really is impressive how Cid managed to turn our airship into the identical submarine sprite from the other world! More importantly, a sub means that lovely underwater music again. There's a few points on the map to check out, and the very first one gives us our next tablet dungeon in the form of a Great Sea Trench. Of course I don't want to go there yet, so I check out the other spots. One just leads us back to Moore, and one leads us to Istory Falls! I take a quick peek inside and love the aesthetic here. So the dungeons are open now, and we can do whichever we'd like! Hmm, what to do first...

Before that, there's another point on the map to go to. I figure it has something to do with Phoenix Tower, but no, it's the Tower of Walse. We have a 7 minute time limit and make our way down to the bottom, fleeing the shadowy enemies that are thankfully as low leveled as they were the first time round. At the bottom we finally find that crystal shard from way back, but it is guarded by Famed Mimic Gogo, who challenges us to a fight.

Gogo helpfully informs us of his gimmick (while the timer keeps ticking...), which is to copy our every move. Well not exactly but he counters magic with magic and physical with physical. Flare is very dangerous so I try hitting him with Bartz. His counter one-shots, but we can revive and try again. I do this for a while until he gets really mad at us, tells us to start over and casts Meteor 4x in a row on the party, obviously wiping us. Welp. Maybe I'm supposed to come back later or I'm just missing the trick, but the time limit has me on edge so I'll come back tomorrow. I'm thinking Istory first maybe, it seems like the out of order one and I like doing that as long as it's not too hard. We still have a few summons to get, too...
